Keeping an eye on your health can be hard work, and some of the warning signs can be hard to recognise. A great way to get a general indication of your health is to do some morning checks when you wake up. The following are all quick and easy checks you can perform in order to keep an eye on your body, and ensure you are not missing any potential health problems.
Are they yellow or bloodshot around the pupils? Any yellowing could indicate a build-up of toxins, whereas bloodshot eyes are an indication of stress and fatigue. Healthy eyes will be bright and white.
The colour of your tongue can be a good indication of inflammation within the body. Ideally you tongue should be a light pink. The darker red it is, the more inflammation that is going on. In this situation you may want to reassess your diet. Many processed foods actively cause inflammation, whereas fruit and vegetables prevent it. Inflammation has been linked to the development of many illnesses, both minor and serious – so you really don’t want it.
It is probably something most of us would like to avoid, but you bowel movements are actually a really good indication of health. You should be having at least one bowel movement a day, with 1 -3 being seen as the norm. Are you waking up with your mouth feeling like a garbage heap? A slight sour taste is to be expected, but a strong taste, as well as a white build up around the corners of your mouth, is an indication that something is wrong. It could be toxins building up, or an imbalance in your diet.
Do you notice anything out of the norm? Any irritation or anomaly? If so there could be an underlying health issue.
Your body’s pH is a good indication of its general health situation. Get some litmus paper and dab it in saliva each morning. Ideally you want your pH to be neutral, but it is an acidic pH to be really worried about. Having an acidic pH makes the body the ideal place for disease to fester, and can create a lot of physical problems. The same can be said for an alkaline pH to a lesser extent, but as most processed and fast foods create an acidic environment, this is the one to really watch out for.
