Nothing can be more horrifying than standing in a dressing room trying on those new jeans only to see a muffin top protruding over the top of the waistband. With this said, the good news is that there are ways to lose this eyesore and be ready to hit the beach this summer.
One of the major factors that needs to be addresed when trying to lose a muffin top is one's diet. It is far too easy to lose track of the calories consumed throughout the day. For example, though it is a liquid, that grande caramel frappe probably packs more than 500 calories into one drink. That caloric count equates to an actual meal! Keep in mind that is on top of daily caloric consumption. Soft drinks are also a major player when it comes to losing weight. Soft drinks contain an enormous amount of calories and sugar. One soda alone can contain up to 300 calories. Ditch the soda and coffee drinks and opt for water and black coffee. If black coffee is out of the question, then try adding a little fat-free milk. Water with fruit is a great way to stay refreshed and it has zero calories!
Another important factor to look at is portion size. People acutally eat a lot more than an acutal serving size, which in turns doubles or triples the calories consumed. Be mindful of eating when watching television or when you are distracted. This adds up to unwanted extra calories, which ends up as a muffin top. Strive to eat more fiber-rich foods such as broccoli, cabbage, avocado and brussel sprouts. These not only are good for your health, but also keep you full longer.
Along with dietary changes, cardiovascular exercisd must be performed to lose thhose unwanted pounds. Another good thing to remember is that there is not one specific exercise that can be done to lose a muffin top. Exercise that promotes overall fat loss is what will produce the results. Spot reduction does not work when trying to lose excess weight around the middle. Having a toned abdomen can help reduce the appearance of a muffin top, but only overall weight loss will do the trick.
High-energy exercise is a great way to lose those pesky pounds. These type of exercises include running, kickboxing and spinning classes. Zumba is another great way to burn a lot of calories. It is a high-energy dance class, which is not only fun, but burns a lot of calories.
Walking is another great way to burn calories. Buy a pedometer and strive to hit to 10,000-step mark daily. Remember the more calories burned, the faster that muffin top will disappear.
Strength training is also another great way to burn calories, but also it helps build definition. When combined with cardiovascular exercise, the results can be amazing. After the excess layer of fat is gone, what one is left with is a toned and defined body.
Summer is right around the corner, so now is the time to get moving. Say goodbye muffin top and hello bikini!
